Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how DaVinci Resolve Editor Help (the “App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the App. The App provides informational guides, keyboard-shortcut references, AI-assisted editing tools, and advertising-supported features.
The App is independently developed and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Blackmagic Design. DaVinci Resolve and related names are trademarks of their respective owner.
1. Information we handle
Information you enter into AI tools
When you voluntarily use an AI-assisted feature, the text, preferences, and other information you enter are sent over an encrypted connection to OpenRouter and the AI model provider selected for that request. This information is used to generate the requested result.
Do not enter passwords, payment details, government identifiers, health information, confidential business data, or another person’s personal information unless you have permission and understand the provider’s data practices.
Analytics and technical information
The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the App is used and to improve its stability and content. Depending on your device and settings, Firebase may process information such as:
- App interactions and screens viewed;
- App version, device model, operating-system version, language, and general device information;
- Approximate location derived from IP address;
- Installation identifiers, session information, diagnostics, and performance-related events.
We do not intentionally send your AI prompt text to Firebase Analytics.
Advertising information
The App uses Google Mobile Ads, including banner, interstitial, native, and rewarded ads. Google and advertising partners may process advertising identifiers, IP address, approximate location, device/app information, ad impressions, ad interactions, diagnostics, consent signals, and fraud-prevention data.
A rewarded ad may be offered before an AI result is generated. Whether ads are personalized depends on your region, consent choices, device settings, and Google’s policies.
Consent information
The App uses the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and store advertising-consent choices where required. Consent status and related privacy signals may be processed to determine which ads can be served.
2. Local device storage
The App may store the following information locally on your device:
- Theme and appearance preferences;
- App configuration and consent status;
- Recently generated AI results or history, where that feature is enabled;
- Guide progress or other usability preferences.
Local information can generally be removed through the App’s available controls, by clearing the App’s storage in Android settings, or by uninstalling the App. Android backup settings may affect whether some local preferences are restored.
3. Firebase Remote Config
We use Firebase Remote Config to remotely manage operational settings such as feature availability, advertising controls, AI model selection, and Analytics enablement. Firebase Remote Config may use an installation identifier and technical information needed to deliver the correct configuration.
4. How information is used
Information may be used to:
- Provide guides, shortcuts, AI-generated results, and other App functions;
- Display, measure, secure, and improve advertising;
- Understand usage patterns and improve the App;
- Diagnose crashes, errors, abuse, or technical problems;
- Apply consent choices and comply with legal obligations;
- Protect users, service providers, and the App from fraud or misuse.
5. Service providers and sharing
We may share or allow processing of information with service providers necessary to operate the App, including:
- Google Firebase for Analytics and Remote Config;
- Google Mobile Ads and UMP for ads, consent, measurement, and fraud prevention;
- OpenRouter and selected AI model providers for AI generation;
- Technical, security, legal, or hosting providers where reasonably necessary.
We do not sell personal information for money. Certain personalized-advertising activities may be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” under some privacy laws. Available consent or opt-out controls will be presented where required.
6. Third-party privacy practices
Third-party services process information under their own policies and retention rules. Review their policies here:
- Google Privacy Policy
- Firebase Privacy and Security
- How Google uses information from apps that use its services
- OpenRouter Privacy Policy
OpenRouter and individual AI providers may have different logging, training, and retention practices. Those practices may depend on the selected model, provider, and account-level privacy settings.
7. Your choices and controls
- You may use the guide and shortcut features without submitting content to an AI provider.
- You may decline or update advertising-consent choices when the consent interface is available.
- You can manage Android advertising and privacy settings through your device settings.
- You may reset or delete your advertising identifier where supported by Android.
- You may clear App data or uninstall the App to remove locally stored information.
- You may contact us to ask a privacy question or request assistance concerning information under our control.
8. Data retention
Local preferences and history remain on your device until deleted, cleared, or the App is uninstalled, subject to device backup behavior. Analytics, advertising, consent, and AI providers retain information according to their own policies, legal obligations, security needs, and account configurations.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical measures, including encrypted HTTPS connections for supported network requests. However, no electronic transmission, device storage, or third-party service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
10. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Children should not use AI features or submit personal information without the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
11. International processing
Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Privacy and data-protection laws in those countries may differ from the laws where you live.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when App features, providers, legal requirements, or data practices change. The revised policy will show a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after an update means the revised policy applies to future use.
